After selecting an element in photoshop, there are about 3 different ways for you to deselect your elements. The 3 ways are:

  • Deselecting elements using a keyboard shortcut
  • Deselecting using the right-click menu
  • Deselect using a menu bar option

Let's take them one after the other

#1: Deselecting elements using a keyboard shortcut

The keyboard shortcut to use to deselect in photoshop is CTRL + D. This is usually the fastest way to deselect in elements in Photoshop.

#2: Deselecting using the right-click menu

When you right-click on any element in photoshop after you have selected, you will find a deselect option as part of the menu that pops up. Just go ahead and click on the deselect option and that will deselect your selection.

#3: Deselecting using a menu bar option

On the main menu bar in photoshop, you will see a select menu. To deselect any element in photoshop, click on the select menu and you will find a pop-up menu. On this select submenu you will find a deselect option. Go ahead and click on the deselect option
